Hi there, I have tried unsuccessfully like manbrot to recover deleted bookmarks on my iMac from Google Chrome - I have stupidly deleted ALL my bookmarks as they were imported from Safari and I didn't realise I was deleting the whole google chrome bookmarks. I can only get as far as Home/Library/Application Support - I can not see Google at that point just the following:

App Store

Apple

CrashReporter

GarageBand

iLifeMediaBrowser

Microsoft

ProApps

Script Editor

Can someone please help?

Thank you

A luddite

I have this question too, now in 2015, and maybe Google has changed the Chrome configurations. Here's the scoop:

I found the Bookmarks and Bookmarks.bak files in the "Default" folder in ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/ when hooked up with Time Machine -- there are not any "Profile" folders in the Time Machine backups as there are now on my hard drive.

But the Bookmarks file is not an html file; it's written in this kind of code:

{

"checksum": "0292355746520f0e959c085ba2d8ed83",

"roots": {

"bookmark_bar": {

"children": [ {

"date_added": "13033558603967151",

"id": "16981",

"name": "Forecast",

"type": "url",

"url": "http://forecast.io/#/f/35.6009,-82.5540"

}, {

So, now my question is: How do I convert the Bookmarks file into an html file so I can import it into Chrome? Or, how do I place the Bookmarks file into the Profile folder without Chrome overwriting that file when it opens?

Thanks...

Looking back at what I wrote in another thread at Recover Chrome bookmarks with Time Machine?

The trick seems to be: Be sure to quit Chrome, then put the new Bookmarks and Bookmarks.bak files in the Profile folder. And maybe reinstall the extensions.

These days my best bet is to export a copy of the bookmarks file on a regular basis. Hope this helps!
