Is 16GB of storage space enough for an Ipad?

I am planning on getting an iPad, and I will like to play simple games like Angry Birds, listen to music, maybe watch a video, and play around with pages, and of course play on the internet.

I can manage my music and videos, but for smaller games and having pages and keynote on the device, is 16gb enough space to work with? I'd like to space a little bit of money on my ipad if possible.

16Gb works nicely for me, a little tight sometimes when I want to havea few movies and large apps on board. But the 16Gb made it so my wife and I both got to get orginal iPads. (saved up for a laptop, saw the press conference, did the math.) So ours was a little of necessity (she told me to get my own when 3G came out), a little of usage levels.

I know people that like to have their entire song collection with them, all 200+Gb. If your one of those, then go as large as you can afford.

Nope. 16GB for a phone is more than plenty though. I can understand not bothering to watch movies/videos on a small phone screen. But iPad is totally different... you're gonna WANT to run movies/vids and file sizes average 1GB easily. Leave the 16GB option for your phone isntead.

Oh and dont forget that iPad apps are generally larger than iPhone apps.

Individual films (if in HD format from iTunes) can take up over 1 gig each, and your music could also take up a fair chunk of space. Apps tend not to take up too much space - Pages is listed in the App Store as 51.3 meg, and Keynote as 69.9 meg. The iOS and built-in apps will also reduce the amount of avilable space to you.

Remeber though, once you've bought it you can't increase it's capacity - if you can afford it go for the 32, as it's it best to have too much space than too little.

Bear in mind that 16GB model = 14GB real world storage.

Also bear in mind that you can stream all of your media to an iPad, so as long as you're in range of your home network you don't need onboard storage and 16GB is enough for a load of apps. You only really need more than 16GB if you want to have access to a fair bit of media while on the move.

On a file-by-file basis, video will be by far your largest consumer of storage, followed by music files and that depends on how you obtain/create yoru music files. Most of my music comes from a personal CD collection which I routinely rip at a bit rate of 320 (making for some large files). You can go smaller and sacrific audio quality but still get good sound.

I have a 16 GB and wish that I had gone with 32, but still manage pretty well. It may be that I don't store as much video as you would (most of my video veiwing is streamed via Netflix.

I know quite a few people with 16GB iPads who haven't run into problems. At the very worst, they have to choose between movies to take on a trip before they go. Not a major inconvenience, in my opinion. It still holds plenty of music, apps, and has room for a few movies/tv shows.

If you're looking to record a lot of your own videos as well, or want to have an even greater selection of movies and music, then bumping up to larger capacity would probably be worth the expense for you.

It depends. I feel like you have to restrain yourself better, but it should be possible.

I have a 64 gb ipad 1, and was wondering the same with the ipad 2. Would 16gb work? I trimmed the fat off of my full ipad 1 to see how it would look on a 16 gb device, and I did see it possible, but it's not a lot of wiggle room. I had about 10 gb of apps, 10 gb of music (no pod casts), and 8 gb of photos.

YMMV. My main use for ipad is safari, mail, and apps, so it should be doable if you have similar needs.

I would have to say no. For an iPhone were main use will consist mostly of utility use, less entertainment and heavy application use a 16GB should work well.

But for an iPad, especially if you plan on this being your main device I would go larger.
