Low battery life on iPod touch after installing iOS 4 (continued)

This thread is a continuation of http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2474499. The thread was becoming too long and some browsers were timing out.

MBP 2.4 with 4GB ram, Mac OS X (10.6.2), iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, Apple TV, iMac, MBP...

Works fine here also. I think this is a way to help a thread with over 2000 replies and over 475000 views fade into oblivion. The press is well aware of the longevity and size of this thread. For all intents and purposes, this will make it appear to go away. In my opinion, this is a shady deal for an issue that Apple has refused to address. Just to re-add a recent item to the "new" thread:

I won't be nasty and ask you to prove that browsers are timing out, but as an Apple official can you please comment on this extremely widespread bug in OS4? Or can you assure us that the appropriate people have been made aware and are working to resolve it? After all, a thread that exceeds 135 pages must have someone sweating?

There must be something seriously wrong here, but as yet Apple wish to ignore the problem.
I only charged my iTouch yesterday, only used it for about 40 mins while on the bus going home ( only played music ). Back on the bus this morning, iTouch DEAD, Zero life. This is not funny.

Come on Jobs get this sorted please, at the rate things are going I'll be in my grave before Apple & Jobs make a move .......

Jason, if you have any communication with Apple (and I am sure you do since hosts have been selected by Apple Customer Sevice) then PLEASE HAVE APPLE FIX THE QUICK BATTERY DRAIN OFFICIALLY BEFORE THE NEXT UPDATE AND ADVERTISE IT AS SUCH. ALL OF US WILL STOP HARANGUING APPLE AND START RECOMMENDING IT AS A VIABLE SUPPLIER OF SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE THAT WORKS.

Thank you.

I have tried all the above in an attempt to at least improve the battery life on my 2G touch. Prior to the update, I went days of use without charging, after update, like others, it wouldn't last overnight on standby. After trying all the "fixes" suggested by others, I have improved battery life, but nowhere near what I used to have (or what it should be!) And IMHO if you have to turn off all of the functions that make the touch usable, it isn't really a solution!
