Q: Transcodes blocking other jobs?

I have Final Cut Server setup on an 8 core system and it's managing most of our workflow. At different stages, watchers trigger scans and subscriptions trigger emails, transcodes, and external commands. I keep the max simultaneous jobs at 99 because this system does a lot. There's always a few transcodes in the queue at any time.

Everything was working fine until about a week ago when the system started behaving as though the max jobs was set really low. The system would not launch any job if there were any transcodes being performed. Emails aren't getting sent, watchers aren't watching, external commands aren't firing off unless all the transcodes that entered the job queue before them are done. The only jobs that will happen simultaneously are archive, and client upload jobs.

I've tried restarting the system, restarting q-master, flushing the jobs queue, none of it restores the functionality that I had before.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mario

    **Update**

It seems to be working properly now, although I have no idea why... All I did was stop trying to fix it

NEVER set a FCSvr system for 99 jobs max. Take it down to what the system can reasonably handle, you'll always have jobs waiting in the que anyway. Set it to something like 10 or 20. You'll get problems in the long run.

It fixed itself because it caught up to the number of jobs the hardware is physically capable of handling at one time. Setting the max over this is asking for trouble.
