iTunes cannot run because some of it's required files are missing.

A lot of people have been having the same problem after upgrading their iTunes to the latest software, they have had messages saying 'iTunes cannot run because some of it's required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes.' I am not prepared to loose all of my sorted songs and videos and would urgently like Apple to immediately fix this problem. If you have had the same problem after downloading, please comment to bring awareness.

Same problem here. I have a windows xp and I've just upgraded to iTunes 10.5 and I get all te time the same message as you"itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing" , I tried to install and re-install it many times but nothing works so I hope that Apple figures out this annoying problem 😠

Will this actually bring awareness? If so, then thank you. I'm not having the missing files problem, my iTunes won't even bother to launch and isn't even running in the background anywhere, it's as if, although all the files are present on my drive, windows doesn't recognise that it even exists! Tried all suggested solutions, my suggestion? Apple release another windows update that works! I am actually pretty much fed up now of this, been trying for days to get iTunes to work, short of actually wiping my laptop clean and starting again, which I may add, I am most certainly not prepared to do! I am glad however, that I am not the only one having problems, though some people seem to get theirs working with some of the suggestions listed, I cannot understand why I can't fix mines 😟

I have just tried to download latest version and it stopped halfway through then came up with message about insufficient privileges to access directory C:\program files\common files\Apple\CoreFP then said to log in as admin, which I already am. Retry does same thing, so cancelled. When I run Itunes it says files missing. Tried to install previous repair and same message.

I am at my wits end, have had endless problems with the ipod. I'm totally frustrated as I now cannot open my itunes icon on my pc as I'm getting the message "some of it's required files are missing".Will I definitely not loose my library if I reinstall? Also thinking of reinstalling previous version, is that available on the Apple site? Any comments/suggestions would be great. Many thanks

Same problem here. Just installed the latest version of iTunes (having only installed a new verison a couple of weeks ago), restarted my computer as required only to be told that 'iTunes cannot run...' Then went to the iTunes website, attempting to reinstall iTunes as requested, only to be told that I already have the latest verison of iTunes. So am now stuck, unable to access to my library or to get into the programme to try and do anything.

Pretty ****** off right now, but at least it sounds like it's not just me experiencing this problem.

Okay this might help some of you. The default download is for 32bit OS (I'm using Windows7), on the apple site there is an option for 64bit also, I downloaded this and all works fine. By the way I uninstalled everything first via control panel in the order specified by apple within their uninstall instructions. I hope this helps. No doubt this is not the end of it as I fear making any updates to v 10 intunes!! I now have to go and iron all my husbands shirts as he found and fixed this problem for me!!

How I fixed this problem without re-installing

1 - Dragged the entire Itunes folder from my 'Music' folder to the desktop
2 - Went to http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/download and downloaded latest version
3 - On install screen it gave options Repair or Remove, done the Repair
4 - Itunes now running but all my files gone so,
5 - Back to my 'Music' folder & deleted the new Itunes folder
6 - Dragged the original Itunes folder, now on my desktop, back into the 'Music' folder
7 - Sorted. All my music, videos & apps are there!

Hope that works for you, saved me doing a whole reinstall which I hate doing
