when trying to open my yahoo e-mail on my iphone I received the following message after prompting me to enter my password.
the user name or password for apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com is incorrect.

I also went into settings and tried to re-enter my password and got the same message....

I would appreciate any suggestions......

Thanks,

I have also recently had this problem. It didn't occur until I changed my yahoo password a few weeks ago. The password I've input is correct, yet I randomly get a message saying my yahoo password is invalid. I've tried rebooting my phone, uninstalling yahoo mail on my phone, rebooting and reinstalling yahoo mail and none of this fixes the problem.

It's extremely annoying. Is this an Apple problem, or a yahoo problem, or an AT&T problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Just went through this with some friends on their iPhones, a home computer using Outlook, and a home computer using a MacBook Pro. AT&T and Yahoo will tell you it is Apple, don't buy it. It is a Yahoo problem and sometimes it will just resolve itself by waiting.

I have had this problem on my 3G for > 6 months. Found a solution finally.

    Deleted the yahoo mail account.
Deleted the yahoo mail shortcut app.
Settings-- safari. cleared history, cookies, and cache.
Turned off device. turned it back on and then added the yahoo account. Finally works.

I'm guessing your password has non-alphanumeric characters in it.... mine does and ever since my iPod Touch would tell me that the password was wrong. Found this threat by apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA38632?viewlocale=en_US,

    tl;dr

Probably an error of iOS and/or Yahoo! Mail, and either way Apple just expects us to change our password to something without special characters. Let's hope they decide to fix this in future.

I am also having this problem with my ipod touch 4G, however, it only happens when I am at home, and I have my wireless connection through Verizon. I can use every internet application at home except the Mail Account button. But if I am somewhere else with a wi-fi connection available, I can use the Mail Account button without any issues. It must be something with Verizon, I have done all that is mentioned in this post, deleting, adding, new password, I also tried to use an AOL account that I have and got the same problem. When I first got my ipod about a month ago everything was working fine, then all of a sudden it stopped working, and again, only using my wi-fi at home…..any thoughts? thanks

I had this issue after changing my password on yahoo. I did the following as suggested in one of the comments below and it worked.

Settings-- safari. cleared history, cookies, and cache.

I.e. I went to Settings for Safari and cleared history, cookies and data and then reentered my yahoo! information. It then worked.

i have this problem as well. for me this is a recurring problem with the iPhone and Yahoo.

    i blame both companies.

After all this time you'd think they'd (Apple and Yahoo) solve this problem, but noooooooo, too hard to figure out waaaaaaaa they no need email anyway, right

i only use alphaneumeric characters, and the password still doesn't work on the iPhone.

Maybe now they will come back with "don't use any characters in your password, only a blank password will work on the iPhone."

I'm so happy that I'm not the only one. I'm from Malaysia and I have issues with Yahoo Mail for about 1 month already. Before this, Yahoo Push Mails used to be working perfectly, then all of a sudden, it's not pushing instantly anymore, it's like I got the push mail to my iPhone 4S about 2 hours at least after I received the mail. But then about 1 week ago, it seemed to be fine again, it pushes just almost instantly. Until yesterday night, around 12 midnight, I stopped receiving any mails to my iPhone. Well I can still check them on browsers but not anymore in the built in Mail app. Everytime I try to open the Mail app, i'll be prompted saying that the username and password is incorrect, bla bla bla... I've tried everything, deleting and adding back the mail account, reboot my iPhone, but non of them worked. Now, Apple or Yahoo, whoever held the responsibility should know that how important push mails are to us, we missed everything if it's not working. Please fix it soon... I love Apple and Yahoo, don't make me change my point of view.
