Apple store swapped mine with a new one already and it's still has the same issue. When I called Apple I talked with a supervisor or something he tried to ******** with me that it's very normal for iPad 2 to have this problem it's just its nature, so I told him that my Ipad 1 LCD's doesn't has this issue at all. he said that iPad 2 has a different design that iPad 1 which make iPad 2 thinner so this is what to expect. so I told him that (which is the truth) I bought 2 iPad 2 on launch date one for myself and one for my friend, but my friend's iPad 2 doesn't has this problem at all, so he made appointment for me with Apple store in The Grove, Los Angeles and my genius guy tried to ******** too that it's normal because all the iPad 2 in his store has the same backlight bleeding too! so do all of his friends and his manager's iPad 2, but he said that he will order a new one for me anyway but it's most likely that it'll still has the same problem. I'm so ******!

I received my new, fresh from Chengdu China iPad1 today (got the discontinued price) and first thing I checked was the bleeding issue plaguing the iPad2. Took it to a dark room and pulled up a black screen. Absolutely no bleeding.
My bet is that the new thin design is proving to be a mass-production challenge. I am sure Apple and Foxconn will get it right sooner than later.

All 3 iPads I've purchased have backlight bleeding. Of the 3 only 2 were really tolerable/acceptable. Mine was not. I had a serious flashlight bleeding from under the bezel to the right of the home button. It was clearly evident at 50% brightness Auto On in a well lighted room. I called Apple Care and was next day air shipped what appears to be a brand new replacement in a plain brown box. The box did not contain a retail box - only a packaged iPad and instructions/materials for returning my original. The replacement iPad, like the others, has what I would call minimal backlight bleeding so I will keep it. Also of note, my replacement iPad also has a brilliant white/bluish (very cool temperature color) panel as opposed to my original which had an overall yellowish tint to it. The replacement was hassle-free and blazingly fast.

All iPad 2s seem to suffer from backlight bleeding for whatever reason. Perhaps due to overall slim design, lack of clips for securing glass & panel, etc. I don't believe there
will be an iPad 2 that doesn't suffer from this unless something is
changed in production. Search out this problem on Macrumors.com and there are several posts with pictures of effected panels. My advice would be to exchange an unacceptable unit for a new one however temper your expectations with the knowledge that no panel will be perfect.

Just an update. They received by iPad back at Apple on 3/16 and there site continues to say Product replacement pending - called to complain about how long it is taking to replace a unit. I would have gotten better service just going to the store (that is 2 hours away.) The supervisor admitted that this is a significant issue and they are flooded with returns/exchanges. He tried to tell me they were going to repair it now....

I just called AppleCare about the replacement iPad 2 I received. I still have issues with backlight bleed, but not as bad on the replacement. I just wanted the issue documented so that when Apple fixes the production issue, I can get a replacement. Anyhow, the official line I was told from the specialist was that the glue needed to cure. He said to give it three to five days. Glue drying won't fix this problem. I've had the iPad since Mar. 18th. Today is Mar. 22 and the issue is as prevelant as it ever was.
