Netflix pause issues

Well the good news is that the latest update seemed to fix my buffeting concerns with Netflix.

But every time I pause Netflix for more then a minute or two wakes to Top Movies under Movie menu on the ar left and not within netflix I'm basically kicked out. Anyone else having such an issue?

iMac i7, Pro 13", ipad 3G 64, iphone 4, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Wow! I'm not sure what is sillier that fact you logged in to say you don't have this concern and have nothing to add...or the fact your answer was the equivalent of saying "is it turned on"!

1,770 posts and that is how you answer?

hahahaha!

and have you checked your network connection ?
rather than laughing how about responding appropriately to the advice.

i realize that this post is a few years old, but i'm hoping the original poster might get notified. i am having this exact same issue, and it's maddening. i'm wondering if you ever found a fix.

my 3rd gen apple tv is directly connected to the router via ethernet, i can say that is definitively not a network issue, and the content streams beautifully. it's only when i pause netflix, i get kicked completely out and it takes me back to the apple tv menu screen. i have to log back in to netflix, chose which viewer, got to "recently watched" select the episode and then i can resume from where i left off.

also, am an IT professional (ACMT).

here's hoping @carboncow reads this, and here's hoping you found a fix or at least a cause.

I guess for me that is right up there with "restart the computer".

OK for those who need to know everything I have tried...

1. rebooted unit
2. rebooted iMac
3. rebooted wireless router (apple)

Actually as an IT professional I can tell you answering someone "check your network connection" is pretty generic in itself. What do you mean to "check"...there is a many a think to check. So if I was going to hand someone such simple advice I might elaborate on it.

Sorry gang I just found this to be useless w/o giving a theory to why it would need "checked". Most likely this issue is software based and I was trolling to see if anyone else experienced this as there has been a recent update. I doubt a "network issue" would cause netflix to reset to non-internet tab while being paused.

Think about it!

if you are an IT professional then would you accept that network issues can cause strange things to happen. what investigations have you done with regards to your network (other than rebooting your router).

you have told us nothing about your network setup. you have given us a pretty generic fault description.

We'll again my inquiry is about pausing netflix and the system reverting to a different functionality...so everyone is very much misinterpreting my discussion topic, but...

The article you list is very interesting and pertains to a completely different post I and a million others have posted on latency with internet based products (specifically in my case netflix)...but again I don't mention Apple Movie products nor are my DNS settings to OpenDNS or Google. Good article though!

You guys need to focus on what people write and not be so quick to give good answers to the wrong question...

The OP may have moved on from this problem, after 4 years you would certainly hope so.

yes, obviously... hence why i wrote what i wrote... did you just post to point out the obvious? i'm sure it's highly likely that the OP has moved on, but they are still active on these boards, and may get a notification. if so, yay for me, if not, it was worth a shot.

also, if i am experiencing the exact same issue four years later, then it's entirely possible that OP did not figure out a fix and just chose to live with it. but again, it doesn't hurt to ask...

but thanks for elucidating the self evident.
