MacBook Pro 15" Early 2011 - Airport Issues

I received my new Macbook Pro last week.

Frequently Airport looses its connection to my Airport Extreme Base Station. Tp resolve I have to turn off Airport on the MacBook Pro and turn back on.

Is this a problem others are having or do I have a faulty product?.

Advice much appreciated.

I bought my MBP 13" i5 6 days ago. It came with OS 10.6.6 and as soon as I got it I updated to 10.6.7. After the update on the second day I noticed that the Airport signal strength was not full and sometimes when I'm watching YouTube the video loading stops. At first I thought it was something to do with the Flash Player so I ignored. Later on, sometimes the webpages started taking a long time to load and my signal strength was most of the times down to one bar. My wife has a 2007 MacBook and the signal strength bar was full on hers. Also before I got this laptop I had a MBP C2D and I never experienced this problem.

So after reading a number of articles and forums I tried to fix the problem. I followed a number of procedures people suggested but nothing worked. So assuming that the update to 10.6.7 caused the problem, I formatted my laptop, installed OS again. And at first it didn't solve the problem. My signal strength was still on one bar. After installation I reset PRAM and SMC and now my Airport seems to be working fine. I even updated to 10.6.7 and since then everything seems to be fine until now.

Instructions to reset PRAM and SMC could be find on http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379 and http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964.

I hope this is helpful and this solves your problems.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I'm having an issue with Airport. Twice now since yesterday I start up, login in and launch Chrome and it is trying to connect to Google Instant, it say's "sending request" and never connects. I'm using iStats Menu and it show's no in/out under network. I have to shut down my MBP, and reset my modem(from Comcast) and netgear router. After that I bootup and log back in and it connects without issue.

Same problem here! Plus another problem:

MacBook Pro 13' early 2011, Windows Seven partition: on wireless connection MSN Messenger doesn't work (error 81000306), while on ehternet cable it works flawlessly. On Mac partition msn works both on wireless than on ethernet (when the wireless card likes the access point, of course....).

So we have a flacky wireless card driver both for Windows than for Mac OS.

Please Apple fix it, I can't really understand that in 2011 I spent 1200€ for laptop with almost not-working wireless card!

Hi,

I bought a 15" Macbook pro i7 just a month ago and on my university network everything runs fine, but at my place I cant do anything, before it was just showing me that i was connected to the network but there would be no internet connectivity, so i plugged an airport extreme into the modem-router and connected through the airport base, this was working till now, now the computer wont even connect at all to the old network neither the airport extreme telling me about delay issue. On another macbook pro (first unibody serie) everything runs smooth. I have no idea what to do, i just cant use my laptop at home. It is to note that it wont connect at all since i tried to reset the PRAM and the SMC, before i could connect but the signal would drop constantly.

I will call the Apple store tomorrow to see what they have to say.

I have a 2GHz dual core MacBook, purchased in August 2006. For years airport functioned perfectly with no problems but recently the signal began droppiong from 5 bars to 2 and then to none. Once this happens my network no longer appears in the list of available networks, in fact sometimes no networks are available. The only way to fix the problem is to turn off airport and turn it back on again. Sometimes this doesn't work and I have to restart the machine or sometimes closing the lip for 5 mins and re-opening works. There doesn't seem to be an exact pattern. It occurs every 30 mins to 2 hours and nothing I've tried so far works. I've tried 3 dirfferent routers all with the same problem, annoyingly my girlfriends cheap Windows netbook works perfectly on all of them. I've tired altering the channels, changing from WPA to WEP, turning off the security, resetting the PRAM and removing and re-adding the router to my preferred network list. NONE of these solutions have any effect.

I was considering buying a new Macbook since mine is pushing 5 years old, but apart from this issue it's in perfect working order and since people with 2011 MBPs are having the same issue there's no point.

PLEASE APPLE or somebody can you help, this is driving me crazy and rendering my MB almost useless.
