Does a charger draw current when iPhone is not plugged in?

You know those chargers which just look like a plug .. for charging iPhones?

How much current does this draw if it is switched on at the wall but the iPhone is not plugged
in? Am I wasting electricity?

Yes, it will draw power, but the amount is extremely low. In the US, at average rates, left plugged in with nothing attached for about 8 hours a day, about $0.14 cents per year(Test done by Cnet).

Yes. There is also a (small) fire risk. Please make sure that you switch off/unplug your charger when not in use.

depends, I am using a dock for my 3gs plugged into mains, I have one of those home meters that lets you know how much electric you are using and when mine is plugged in and unplugged it says I am saving £1 a month. maybe peanuts to some.
but if you have a few devices like this plugged in can be a fair saving by unplugging.
