FaceTime connection problems
Oh, and I am using a broadband connection, over which I have connected once before. But only once.

FaceTime is totally frustrating. It worked for me and then it stopped. (I suspect the other person changed their network settings). Apple really needs to get their heads around this one or they will be trampled under by new video calling from Google and Facebook.
Im having this problem to - is there a reason it won't let me connect?

As far as I can tell the problem is usually that the modem, network, or ISP does not have all the settings enabled for FaceTime to work. The link above gives more information. However, if you are a non-technical type the solution isn't easy.
Hello,
I have the same problems, and the solution I found is that when the conections fails, then I go to the preferences of Facetime on my iMac, and disconnect the account ID. Then i turn it on again, and repeat the email ID for conecttions, and then, it works, till the new fail... I'm trying to contact Apple Support to know if it will be an update for facetime for Mac OS. I tryied the conections between iphone and ipad, and there is not problems. The problem is only between my iMac and iPhone o iPad...
I'm waiting for the update!!!!
Thanks and sorry for my english....
Sometimes turning things off and then on again works (and not just for FaceTime either).
Yes, this is the eternal solution, but, I will be very pleased if Apple do the job and with an uppdate, I don't have to lose connections, and the App works...
Totally agree with you. But Apple's record on synchronising different devices is not good- which makes me very suspicious of their cloud computing.
I have the same problem. I installed facetime on my MacBook Pro (2009; OS X10.6.8; 2.53 gHz) recently and I encouraged my sister who lives overseas to do the same on her MacBook Pro. To our dismay, when I call her email address, she can't connect to me and when she calls me, I don't receive any notification! We're both on broadband and we can't get our heads as to why it wouldn't work! Totally frustrating...
My facetime was working perfectly, until I went on vacation. It didn't work the entire time I was there and had to download Skype (which had no problems). On Facetime, it was the same problem as most, on where I'd receive a call, but it couldn't connect, or I'd try to call and it would only keep ringing. I just got home, and it still isn't working. I'm going to try turning my facetime on and off, and hopefully it works. But if it keeps screwing up in the future and there's no update to fix it, I'll definitely stick with Skype.
You might try deleting the programme and then re-installing it. Also, make sure Skype is not running as well. The two will not work together.
How would I go about re-installing it without having to pay? I bought my mac and the app came with it for free. It's not listed under my purchased tabs in the app store either.
And I never have them running together either.
When I bought my Mac, FaceTime was a free beta and I paid a few cents to get the final version.
Have you by any chance upgraded to Lion? There seems to be some problem with FT and Lion.
having connection problems too! Just wondering ... apple support mentioned something about "confirm date and time are accurate on your iOS device" Does this mean if we're trying to connect to another time zone, it won't work? Perhaps that's the problem I'm having??? Thoughts?
