sms ''send'' button greyed will not let press

Having issues with not able to send some SMS messages- I choose a recipient then after typing the message the ''SEND'' button is greyed out and wont let me press it? I've done some forum searches but no-one seems to say this
But with my issue the ''send'' button wont be pressed after message typed and recipient chosen
I've even gone out and started message again but still SEND is greyed

Very strange as works fine then suddenly ''send'' button just greys out again

Any thoughts on why, or how to fix this intermittent issue please

when its greyed out do you have cell phone signal?

here is what customer support told me to do,,,,go to Settings-messages- on that page make sure that"Show Subject Field" is turned off. then try to send text message. it worked for me.

If Show Subject Field is enabled in Settings>Messages> MMS>Show Subject Field, you can only send messages after you have typed content in the Body field. Until then, the Send button will be grayed out, and you will be unable to send the message. If you add text to the Subject and Body field you will automatically send via MMS. If you wish to send via SMS, not MMS, either type text in the Body field only, or disable the Show Subject Field option. Does this apply to you?

I have found the solution.

If you have a subject line showing on your text box, it will show up greyed out enter stuff in both boxes and the send message comes back.

you need to turn off the Subject Field, to do so complete the following steps:

Go to Settings > Messages > Ensure the Show Subject Field is turned off.
