Skype on IPad 2

Has anyone tried the Skype App from ITunes on the IPad 2?

In ITunes the app shows up available for the IPhone but when you read the description, it says it is for the IPad as well. However, it does not show up on the IPad app list.

Am I missing something?

Thanks Mark

Try restarting your iPad.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

Try downloading directly on the iPad from the "App Store" icon.

Type Skype in the search field top right corner of the window.

Bingo. Skype is an iPhone app, and runs on iPad through backward compatibility. Apps will only list as "iPad Apps" if they are only for iPad.

This is different from a Universal binary, where one app purchase will work natively on an iPhone AND iPad.

I use Skype on iPad 1, and the GUI does not use hi res images unlike some other apps. It works well enough but now that iPad 2 is out with a proper front camera, a native version may soon be in the works (hopefully).
