white iPad users: is the white frame distracting?

I tried them both at the apple store. I am going with the black one. The white was distracting.

You, know I never thought about that. I was debating whether to go with the white or black when I was in line on launch day. Soooo glad I went with the black.

I wanted a white iPad 2, but found the article and comments like those above around the Internet. I decided to be safe and just go with black. I was one of the last ones in line at my local Best Buy release day to get an iPad 2. They had the exact configuration I wanted, but only in white. I decided to go for it, and I've been happy with it so far. I honestly have not found it distracting; my eyes are drawn to the screen. It makes sense though, if you're not impulsive like me 🙂, to maybe try them both out before you buy. I am glad I went ahead, took a chance, and got exactly what I wanted.

I got my white iPad yesterday. I don't see an isuue with the white bezel.

It sounds strange, but I was wondering the same thing...black or white?

I just signed up to the forum, and glad I did the search for answers. I need to make a decision today, and just wait for the day to come for delivery.
I am looking at my screen as I type, and trying to see if white would make a difference.

For me, I get so caught up in the experience on the iPad 2 that I forget that there even IS a bezel. And the main reason I finally bought an iPad is that it was now available in white. 🙂

I love the white and don't find it distracting in the least. Nor do I find the aluminum bezel of my Cinema Display or my MacBookPro distracting.

But really, it just depends on your own personal aesthetic preferences.

You prefer watching your iPad for visual comfort when it's off?

From a photography perspective, the black surround will give a more accurate and overall better view of the colour depth etc. White borders tend to wash out the colours...

You got that kind of backards. It is the white bezel that provides more 3D depth when watching movies with or without black bars. The first thing my father noticed when viewing was the depth. He asked me "Is it 3D?". Black bezels wouldn't give you this effect.

Also, white bezel looks better aesthetically. It's more of fashion as well.

Also, I heard from someone that the white one has less light leakage than the black ones. ha ha.

As a result, white is golden.

Aren't photographs often printed on paper with a white border?
Why would these white borders wash out colors?

Just got my white iPad and love it. Nothing distracting at all, and I am a visual artist.

my original pad was black. got a white 2 because that was all they had. was distracting for a day or two, but once you get used to it, it disappears, and makes no difference.

There was only one way for me to decide, to see both in person.
After an extended period of time, watching the same videos and viewing the same pictures, I found the white iPad to be the one for me.
I find the white bezel sets off the picture, and gives it a sharper appearance. It is not distracting; the white is not a bright gloss but a muted eggshell. I spoke with quite a few of the employees, and most of them said they like the white one.
As it has been said, everyone has their preference.

White for me as well 🙂
