Q: 30" Apple Cinema Display burn in

This subject has been covered before but the responses all seem to be in the context of persistent burn in effects; where the item has been left on the screen for a long time. My problem is one of almost instant burn in, such that I am finding editing graphic and photographic images extremely difficult, because of the marks left from windows which were only briefly on the screen beforehand. I have a plain desktop to try to minimise long term marking effects but this is no help. As a frinstance: If I am doing fine adjustments to an image in Aperture and I have a reference sheet behind the photo, the white sheet will show through, even though I am not keeping the sheet open for more than half a minute. Any ideas?

Nothing is going to fix that short of panel replacement. It's ion contamination by ions that have high mobility. Is there still a warranty? If so, I would take the matter up with Apple.

The display is out of warranty but, presumably everyone who has one is going to experience this problem? In which case, was the display fit for purpose in the first place? I do not remember reading any caveats about the display have a severely limited serviceable life, which at £1500 (nearly $2500) would have seemed unreasonable. It appears these displays are no longer available and it would also appear that one can now only buy a 27" Apple display, for £1000 ( $1600 ). Anyone know if there is a new 30"er coming?

My 30 has similar issues. I am in FCP or AE ALL the time - of course I am going to have constant and consistant windows open. My second monitor is  a 24" Dell and is twice as old with no burn whatsoever. My displays are spread across both monitors so you would think it would be afected. When it is time to replace the Apple 30 I will be getting a Dell 30 instead.
