iphone will not connect to home wifi, always worked before

Since the day I got my iphone home and entered our 26 character password my wifi has worked perfectly.

I got home the other day and all of the sudden wifi would not connect. As soon as I pulled in the driveway it asked for the password for my wifi network instead of automatically connecting. I got in the house, entered the password and it says can not connect to wifi, then it says password incorrect.

I have tried resetting the phone, forgetting my wifi network, resetting my router and nothing works. I've entered this password probably 50 times now and to no avail....

ipad and laptop work just fine on the same password.

Can someone please help?!

i suddenly had the same problem. on both iPhones; an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 3gs. i found that i was getting a 169.xxx.xxx.xx for a network address. i went into settings>wifi networks. "my network" (hit the blue arrow) change to static ip. since my modem/router address is 192.168.0.1 it uses 192.168.0.64 thru 192.168.0.254for assignable network addresses. I used 192.168.0.98 for one and 192.168.0.88 for the other. I made sure these were not in use by some other device. subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 I used the router address(192.168.0.1 yours could be different) for the router and the dns. this seems to have fixed the issue. Why or what happened i don't know

Try temporarily disabling the security on your router. See if you can connect to it when it's completely open. If you can, re-enable the security and see what happens.

If it still won't connect while open, check to see what channel the router is on. It's probably set to 'auto' or the equivalent. Try setting it temporarily to 1 or 11.

Since the phone is a much lower powered device than your laptop and even your iPad would be, it's possible that it's being drowned out by interference. Especially if you're not having issues on other networks you frequent.

Can I make a suggestion? Unless you are running WEP (poor choice, BTW) then a 26 character password is just not needed. A good, relatively complex 8-12 character password using WPA2 encryption is virtually unbreakable, not to mention easier to type/remember.

I've also noticed with iOS 4 that passwords this long often fail. It is almost as if there is a length limit. Try shortening it and see if you can connect.

Both my wife and I have had problems ever since the ios 4.3 upgrade last week. We can't both get on the home wifi at the same time. Generally the home wifi was absolutely fine before the new ios. I was going to buy an ipad at the end of the week but if i can't get one to the home wifi i won't bother. Tried most of the solutions on these MB's not none of them have worked.

Sort it out Apple we don't expect this from you.

Having a similar issue after updating to iOS 4.3.
At home the iphone (3GS) will not automatically connect to my WiFi, as it did before the update. I have to manually connect to the network. After that it works fine, no issue with the password or anything. But it's a hassle to have to manually connect.

Please, Apple, work on this issue and fix it!

Same problem here. My iPod 2nd Gen with iOS 4.2.1 connects to my Netgear WG602v3 wireless access point just fine but my new iPhone 4 (just received from Apple and upgraded to iOS 4.3 by iTunes automatically) does not. I changed the password to a simple 8 character word (the minimum length allowed by the Netgear) and proved the iPod still connects but the iPhone refuses to connect giving the "Unable to join the network" MsgBox. So, either there is something wrong with my nice new iPhone 4 or with iOS 4.3.

I recently started having the same type of issue with my 3GS and our home wireless router. All other devices in my house were not having any issues. They include a MacBook, a MacBookPro and a wireless printer. We have 2 iPhone 3GS both running iOS 4.3 and both of them have the exact same issue. This problem seems to have started over the last few months, but not exactly sure when. I tried to do some research, but have yet to find an answer. Yesterday, I finally login into the router and change the encryption algorithm from TKIP + AES to just AES. I only have two choices on my verizon router. I am still testing this changes, but it seems promising so far. I am using WPA2.

This thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2733994 mentions something about an issue with the TKIP. Has anyone else been able to find information backing that up? From what I read, AES is better than TKIP so if the AES continues to work, then I guess my problem is solved?
