Stolen Mac Book

Hey guys, this is my very first time in the forum! I was a happy owner of a macbook, until recently! They broke into my appartment and they stole my macbook! Any ideas of what kind of measures i can't take to locate it or any other steps i should take f.e. sending the serial number at apple or the mac address or is it possible to locate it if someone tries to update?
