Trouble is I thought as he went thru it he may have inserted some sort of malware...?trojan or keylogger.
There's no way your colleague could have installed any malware on your iPad unless he jailbroke it. Without jailbreaking, all apps have to come from the iTunes Store. There's no way a keylogger would be possible given how apps work in iOS, much less get past Apple's examination process. So I don't think you need worry. If you're really concerned, though, connect your iPad to your own computer and perform as restore as a new device. That will erase all the content on the iPad and start it afresh.
Also have been able to link my work email to the Ipad so can do work at home. While this is great I wonder how much privacy can I expect? My work email I understand has no expectation of privacy. How do I know my private email is not being looked at as well.
If you let someone use your iPad, they'll be able to see any email on your iPad, so the only privacy is to not let anyone else use your iPad, and make sure it has a passcode on the screen lock to keep out snoopers. If the work email is sensitive in any way, make sure you select the option to have the iPad erase data after ten failed attempts at the passcode.
Regards.
