ArcSoft icon on desktop

Installed a new epson printer and I must have clicked on something that added an "ArcSoft" icon and clickable to a "Tips & Tricks" website by ArcSoft. I've posted a query on the ArcSoft forum but no response - I want to delete the icon from the desktop. I've tried a delete but can't get it removed. It grays out when mouse isn't over it. Any suggestions?

Open the Accounts preference pane in System Preferences, and select the "Login Items" tab. Is there anything in the list that you didn't put there yourself? Something with "ArcSoft" or "Connect" in the name? If so, delete it, then launch the Activity Monitor application. Select "My processes" from the pulldown menu in the toolbar. In the filtering text box, enter the name of the item you just deleted. Select the item, and click the "Quit Process" button in the toolbar. Quit Activity Monitor.

...and a further 18 months on, I have a slightly different, but related, problem: I can't remove it from my login items. It's labelled 'ConnectService (All Users)' and when I try to remove it I get an alert saying it'll affect all users of the computer, which is fine by me, as I'm the only one, so I click OK and nothing happens - it just stays put. I've tried, at your suggestion, Linc, quitting it from Activity Monitor, which worked, but I still can’t remove it from the Login Items.
