How to check memory/hard drive space

How can I find out how much hard drive space I have used up on my computer? I have a lot of music and such so I just want to keep a check on it.

Also, what is the difference between Memory and hard drive space (not sure what the term is?) I know that my white macbook has 2 GB Memory and I think 120 of the other thing. Just the basic package. I guess I just don't understand the what the 2 gb memory is for...

thanks!

Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Select your hard drive's Desktop icon, Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. The information is displayed in the window. Also, if you open a new Finder window of your drive the remaining space is displayed in the Finder's bottom status bar.

Memory refers to RAM or physical, volatile memory whereas hard drive space is +storage space.+ The 2 GBs is where the operating system runs after you boot the computer, and it's where your applications run after you double-click on them.
