iPad 2 in Apple iPad Cover for 1st Gen iPad?

Yes, I tried it with my iPad 2. Didn't fit very well. None of the buttons lined up very well and it moved around in it. It would be ok in a pinch but I quickly went out the next day and bought one made for the 2.

Be careful of iPad 2 cases. I bought a 3rd party one and the bottom of the case cut off the home button. I ended up taking it back and exchanging it for a Smart Cover.

There have been reports that the original iPad case works very well with the iPad 2 when the smart cover is attached (without it, the fit would be very loose, since the iPad 2 is significantly thinner and differently shaped than the original iPad.

I put my iPad 2 with the Smart Cover on and it fit very well. Of course, I couldn't use it because it was closed but it would be a good means of protecting it while it's in a laptop bag while I travel. The buttons still don't line up properly but it does fit in the case.
