NVIDIA GeForce 9400M Driver update issue

After entering the information in the NVIDIA driver search, I'm being told that the latest driver is the "Quadro Mac OS X Driver Release 256". However, after downloading it and trying to install the driver I keep getting an error that says "this computer will not support this NVIDIA graphics solution".

I've installed the latest CUDA drivers beforehand like it says, and that has worked out fine. Not sure what I'm missing with this though.

I'm getting the driver from the official NVIDIA website.

That is the problem. The only place to download any type of updates for a Mac are from Software Update, otherwise you will run into issues such as the one you just experienced. I'm guessing you may have come from the Windows world where it's regular practice to have to go searching for new drivers, with OS X you no longer have to do this. Run Software Update and if it finds updates for your machine install them. You can also set Software Update to check on a regular basis in System Preferences - Software Update.

ACTUALLY... You CAN Install them... I did... Just right click, show package contents, go into packages and install the 3 packages individually. This will update it for you. I have not seen Mac in any way shape or form update the drivers unless its to change from 10.5 to 10.6... I have gone through every reciept and read ever UPDATE AVAILABLE... and never have I seen graphics updated. So like you I wanted to update it and Like you it said Couldnt, so I did it the way I just said and everything is working FINE.
