Battery icon is RED!

Hi all,

I recently started witnessing something odd on my MBP 13. The icon of the battery, showing how much power is left, tends to turn RED when my laptop is plugged.

It used to go back to a normal black icon after a few seconds, but it now takes more and more time to go back to normal. It doesn't happen every time I charge my laptop, it is not related to a higher temperature, and it happens at any level of charge (be it 4%, 20% or 100%).

What's going on? What does it mean? How can I solve this?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,
Dotsy

Could be an old battery - check Apple menu > About this Mac > More Info > Power and post back with what's listed for Full Charge Capacity, Cycle Count, and Condition.

If all that looks good, check the MagSafe port and plug for debris.

Else, you can try an SMC reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
