Audiobooks missing from itunes and iphone 4

1) I bought an expensive book ($40) from itunes onto my iphone and then my iphone died. But I never synched that iphone to my computer. I then bought a new iphone and I’m trying to get that book onto the new iphone without having to rebuy it from the new phone. Is it possible to somehow get it onto the new phone without paying for it again?
2) On my new phone, I bought another expensive book (an “audiobook”) and the last 5 hours of the book are totally blank. One minute there’s perfect audio to it, and the next minute (and for the next 5 hours) it’s blank. What do I do?
