How to register if not "MPN"--MacBook Air preinstall, no iWorks packaging

So I went to register iWork09--which I purchased preinstalled on my MBA so the only media/packaging I got was the MBA reinstall thumb drive.

The registration page at apple.com wants a "Marketing Part Number" from packing materials. Not sure I have such a thing--certainly have no iWork packing materials.

1) is there any reason at all to register iWork?

2) how would I do it if I wanted to given no MPN available?

MBA 2010, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Hi Dick,

If I were you, I'd head on back to the place where you purchased the MBA and ask about the iWork purchase. If it was an Apple Store, make a Genius Bar appointment. I've never heard of iWork being delivered on a thumb drive, but I don't know anyone with a MBA. I've heard of three ways of getting iWork: Physical DVD, Serial Number purchased from the Apple Store online, and lastly, the Mac App Store (apps sold separately). If you don't register, iWork will expire after the free trial period is up and you will be able to read iWork docs, but not Save or Print. Is it possible that you just think you purchased iWork preinstalled when in actuality you just got a free trail pre-load?

No. You already have the full version.

You did that when you registered the computer. No separate registration mechanism is available for software bundled with it.

I was wondering if registering the computer registered everything from the CTO, but there's no way to tell what I have registered. Thanks for what I needed to know!

Dick,

I'm glad that Niel came along to answer your question and I was able to learn something too.

I'm curious if the Mac App Store recognizes your iWork pre-installation. Don't be alarmed if it doesn't; it isn't good at correctly finding the status of iLife and iWork installations. Some of us have been trying to keep track of what it finds and does not find.
