XCode purchased, installed and Kerblamo!

So I stumped up the exhorbitant (yeah, joke ;)) price for XCode 4. Finished the download, ran the installer, everything installed fine (alledgedly) yet when it starts up all I get is an immediate crash:

So it looks like it's not installed correctly. Of course the Support links are as good as useless and the closest I can get to posting on an XCode forum would cost me $99 to sign up for a dev program sigh

So where do I go? What do I do? How do I cleanly uninstall it and start again? Is this stuff meant to be user friendly?

It's my first AppStore Mac purchase so if this is something that's glaringly obvious that I should know how to do, please whack me round the head and point me at the right option, but so far I'm mystified and unsure as to where to turn next to get XCode running.... 😟

Thanks for any assistance!

How I fixed this on the new Retail Lion release:

The key problem is that your Itunes installation is missing a key component. So we need to reinstall it.

1) Close Itunes

2) Use Activity Monitor to stop the ItunesHelper process. Important!

3) Download Itunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

4) Install Itunes once it finishes downloading.

Done!

Open Xcode 4.1 and verify your error is gone. (It was for me.)

I had the same issue and used the steps posted by Steven56 and it worked perfectly for me

*one point to note, no need to remove iTunes from your Mac, just reinstall from the download*
