If not then what's the point of saying ATT / VERIZON rather than simply saying GSM and CDMA versions ? ?

Because to most people, GSM/CDMA means nothing.
You cannot order from the US online Apple store to ship overseas.

The iPad is not locked and you can't buy from the US/UK Apple store from another country.

You can buy from Apple from another country as long as you have an APO or FPO. He said he is in Qatar so he obviously has military affiliation and thus has an APO.

Please how how about making order from another country and addressing it to a friend in the US.

I was not incorrect.

One problem I can see with that is will your credit card company allow a purchase made to be delivered to another country. But check recent threads here - there was a long one about ordering from abroad for delivery in the US. A number of users had done or tried that, and they posted their experience.

I can confirm that the UK Apple online Store will only ship to a UK address with a credit card registered
at that address ( anti fraud )
UK Apple Retail stores will sell against any valid and accepted credit card

You can buy from Apple from another country as long as you have an APO or FPO.

You need a US credit card to buy from the US Apple Online store. Same for other countries (use CC from that country).

There are many people in Qatar besides US military.

so he obviously has military affiliation and thus has an APO.

How do you know he has a military affiliation? It's defintiely not obvious.

Am from Oman and as far as I know Qatar is running WCDMA like Oman since I was running with that project too :-p. In addition to that am using ARAMEX too and purchasing can be done using a local credit card. If you already got one, kindly let me know if its unlocked 🙂

I tried Aramex SHOP n SHIP account ordering IPAD 2 from Apple US website but my order has been cancelled by Apple saying you have exceeded the limit of your order (however i ordered only 1 piece).

Guys, any helps how to get an IPAD 2 in Qatar?
