Q: Wrong Apple ID: How do I change the Apple ID prompt when Updating All Apps?

How can I change the (wrong) Apple ID from the password prompting dialogue when I am already signed in Apple Store with my own ID?

More details of my problem:
When I try the Apps' Update-All option in my iPod 4, the password dialogue prompts me with my girlfriend's Apple ID; YET, I AM signed in the Apple Store with MY own Apple ID.
I have already verified my ID under Settings/Store. I have also signed out, signing back in with my Apple ID, just in case. No problems there, for I DO sign in with my own ID ok. The problem is just the prompt dialogue for password, when I try to use the 'Update All' feature it prompts me for password with her ID, not mine.
If I go back to Apps and choose the Categories (or Top25) menu, at the bottom of the page, it shows me signed in (my Apple ID). If I try to update one Apps it will do ok. But if I try to Update All it will prompt me for password using her ID, waiting for me to type in HER password. I cannot change the Apple ID on that dialogue (static). If I use my password, it will return the "wrong password" dialogue.

How can I change the prompt for the Update All? What is going on here that I AM signed in but my iPod prompts me with her ID. My iPod is registered under my Apple ID. I have already tried the Hard reset by pressing Home and Power buttons simultaneously, to no avail. I am also using my own network to go Online. I am also with the latest OS in my iPod and my Mac's iTunes.
Thank you!
PS This problem is not occurring in my iPhone 4 (same account) nor my Macs.

iMac, MacBook, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4, Mac OS X (10.6.5), intel core 2 duo

I was never able to stop the request for the different account password.

What I did for solution was:

I deleted those apps requesting my girlfriend's password!

Afterwards, I went back to Apps Store and downloaded those apps again. It worked!

    My own thread ends here.

So I had the same problem with an old apple ID popping up after I changed it. My phone is not jail broken and going into settings-store-and then sign out and back in with new ID worked like a charm.

    rmavery answered this.

"Under "Settings" go to "Store" and tap the current "Apple ID" then just log in with the new one."

Many thanks rmavery as this sorted me out, can't believe it hasnt been marked as answered.

Thats because it doesn't work for everyone. I tried that solution ages ago with no success. I ended up having to delete the applications and buy them again

It seems the only option is to do a manual restore to the lasest iOS firmware. I deleted my old backup and did a fresh on after making sure all my settings and documents were transfered (Pages, Numbers, Keynote). I then deleted the pre-downloaded firmware packages from (Windows) Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates & (Mac) ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates. Next you'll want to hit the restore button and it should download the latest firmware without trying to use the one you deleted earlier. After it restored I restored my backup, opened all my applications to test them out and then, to my delight, I could update my appliactions! Note: My backup contained my pictures, videos, contacts, settings (All settings e.g. Mail, wallpaper and also apps), iWork documents and pretty much everything else. I can speak on behalf of iPod owners and iPhone owners too since I had to backup and restore my cousins iPhone to my PC.

    >  "frustration" is NOT the word for it. This BUG is pure ****..

I also had an iPhone that got wacked after a failed iOS software update. Did the restore and after about 4 (don't ask me why) passes at Syncing, the iPhone was restored, but NO apps.

Then, the iPhone Apps Store --> Update option wanted to use the WRONG username (the one from my iPad) to update the iPhone, but these are both different accounts.

Also, you can tell from my username, that Yes.. I know what I'm doing... But after an hour of wasted time, here is my two cents worth...

    The 2 bottom lines...

    1. The "App Store -> Updates" option SHOULD have an option to let you change to a different username, in the event that Apple software gets in a state of massive confusion, which it often does.

    2. iTunes (both Mac and PC) should be aware that some people (like me) own an iPhone, iPad and iPod ALL at the same time! And I use a PC and a Mac. Sorry. Apple, but that is the way it is...

Another nice option would be to bind apps to devices so that they don't cross populating my devices. In some cases, I call this a feature. In other cases, I call this a bug...

Thank you Kevin, but if you re-read the problem description, you'll notice that is the first thing we all tried. It did not work because the iPhone will not allow you to choose the correct ID, it always pops up the incorrect one and you are only able to enter a password, even when you change to the correct ID in Settings -> Store. This is a bug and not a user error.

Yes this is exactly the problem If an app was purchased under a different account thats the one that is used to try to update. Like you said delete and purchasing again will bring up the right account. So frustrating!
