Q: Wrong Apple ID: How do I change the Apple ID prompt when Updating All Apps?

How can I change the (wrong) Apple ID from the password prompting dialogue when I am already signed in Apple Store with my own ID?

More details of my problem:
When I try the Apps' Update-All option in my iPod 4, the password dialogue prompts me with my girlfriend's Apple ID; YET, I AM signed in the Apple Store with MY own Apple ID.
I have already verified my ID under Settings/Store. I have also signed out, signing back in with my Apple ID, just in case. No problems there, for I DO sign in with my own ID ok. The problem is just the prompt dialogue for password, when I try to use the 'Update All' feature it prompts me for password with her ID, not mine.
If I go back to Apps and choose the Categories (or Top25) menu, at the bottom of the page, it shows me signed in (my Apple ID). If I try to update one Apps it will do ok. But if I try to Update All it will prompt me for password using her ID, waiting for me to type in HER password. I cannot change the Apple ID on that dialogue (static). If I use my password, it will return the "wrong password" dialogue.

How can I change the prompt for the Update All? What is going on here that I AM signed in but my iPod prompts me with her ID. My iPod is registered under my Apple ID. I have already tried the Hard reset by pressing Home and Power buttons simultaneously, to no avail. I am also using my own network to go Online. I am also with the latest OS in my iPod and my Mac's iTunes.
Thank you!
PS This problem is not occurring in my iPhone 4 (same account) nor my Macs.

iMac, MacBook, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4, Mac OS X (10.6.5), intel core 2 duo

I updated my iPhone 4 with the latest iPhone 5 software and as soon as I did I was prompted with a different Username everytime I try and update Apps.

I believe this username is one of from my daughters account but when I was updating I was logged into the iTunes and the App Store with my account? How is this possible if the account being used was not the one I am being prompted for now?

Has Apple ever replied to this issue and if so how do you fix this major problem, from what I have seen on this thread the support from Apple is very much lacking regarding this issue and how to correct it.

u can log in to itunes with ur apple id, but updateing app need the apple id and password for the person who downloaded the app.

as itunes keeps all family members app/games in one place an app or game can be copyed to a other family member's ipod/ifone/ipad/ etc

but it would then need them to enter there id and password to update it.

you can check ur apple id on the ipod/ifone by going to settings>store>apple id where you can change it

Having same problem.  Want to propose this as a solution but I've not tried it myself and won't be able to for a while.

    Can someone try the following:

    1) Delete the app on the phone that seems to require the old appleid to update it.

    2) Attach iphone to computer to sync .. make sure you select that app you just deleted.

    3) Then hope the next update of that app requires the new, correct appleid.

Anyone see a reason why that won't work?

I just received my new 4s and I am having the same problem. I tried your suggestion but that doesn't work either. I ended up deleting everything and starting fresh.

Same problem after iOS 5 update.... I tried deleting app, re-synching...then updating app. Still comes up with an old apple ID?

I tried signing out and back on with correct ID under settings, store, ID. But this did not work...still prompting with wrong apple ID. Troublesome.

I have logged out of the old apple id and into the new one in several places yet when you go to update apps the old apple id shows up. There seems to be no way of changing it.

That works on the iPhone but what about changing the Apple ID for a MacBook?

This seems to be a very common issue from the looks of it and it is extremelty dissapointing that Apple hasn't replied with a fix.

I am having the same issue. My wife had iPhone 2g which is broke. I bought 4s and registered my ID with iTunes. But the update all or update one at a time option asking for my wife's password. I will try to delete the app, sync with itunes and re-purchase it and see if it works...

So add another voice to those who are having this same problem.. The longer it goes on the more that Apple is damaging their claims to any "user friendly" reputation..

I changed my Apple ID to email@me.com and now have 14 App updates which are asking for my old G-Mail ID before allowing any update.... My only solution is DELETE App, and add anew.... HS..

Im having excactly the same issue. The App store is showing 13 new updates, but hwen i try and update it, its asing me for my old apple id password, which is no longer valid. I have done the following, which DID NOT fix my issue:

    1. Performed a password reset of my new apple ID (tested login, Suscessfully signed in)

    2. Settings --> General --> Store, and logged in as my new Apple ID (Suscessfully signed in)

    3. App Store --> Categories --> scroll down to the bottom, and signed in as my new Apple ID (Suscessfully signed in)

When i Click update on my installed apps, it's still asking me for a password for my OLD apple ID....

It took nearly 2 weeks of e-mail back and forth with iTunes Support but, thanks to a tenacious Support person, I got the problem resolved.

Tried many things and ended up by him setting up another Apple ID and password to replace the old one that kept coming up when I tried to update apps purchased under that old ID.

Now, (1) the ID he set up comes up (and works with the password he set up) when there are updates for apps purchased under the old original ID and (2) the new ID that I set up, that originally seemed to cause the problem, comes up when there are updates for apps purchased under it.

I make new purchases only under the new ID I set up.
