Q: Wrong Apple ID: How do I change the Apple ID prompt when Updating All Apps?

How can I change the (wrong) Apple ID from the password prompting dialogue when I am already signed in Apple Store with my own ID?

More details of my problem:
When I try the Apps' Update-All option in my iPod 4, the password dialogue prompts me with my girlfriend's Apple ID; YET, I AM signed in the Apple Store with MY own Apple ID.
I have already verified my ID under Settings/Store. I have also signed out, signing back in with my Apple ID, just in case. No problems there, for I DO sign in with my own ID ok. The problem is just the prompt dialogue for password, when I try to use the 'Update All' feature it prompts me for password with her ID, not mine.
If I go back to Apps and choose the Categories (or Top25) menu, at the bottom of the page, it shows me signed in (my Apple ID). If I try to update one Apps it will do ok. But if I try to Update All it will prompt me for password using her ID, waiting for me to type in HER password. I cannot change the Apple ID on that dialogue (static). If I use my password, it will return the "wrong password" dialogue.

How can I change the prompt for the Update All? What is going on here that I AM signed in but my iPod prompts me with her ID. My iPod is registered under my Apple ID. I have already tried the Hard reset by pressing Home and Power buttons simultaneously, to no avail. I am also using my own network to go Online. I am also with the latest OS in my iPod and my Mac's iTunes.
Thank you!
PS This problem is not occurring in my iPhone 4 (same account) nor my Macs.

iMac, MacBook, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4, Mac OS X (10.6.5), intel core 2 duo

Hageshiistorm has it right.  The apple id and password must be changed on the iPhone.  His solution worked perfectly.  On the iPhone > settings > store > select the apple id > sign out > sign back in using the "existing account" > enter correct apple id and password.

After changing the App ID in the settings -store to the new or different accout, I did manage to update the apps in the App Store by update the apps individualy. To do so, tap on the apps seperately, then see how the apps will be updated. During this process the screen springs to the app you're trying to update and you will see the indicator growing from left to right to show the progress of the software-updating-process. During this process you must tap on this app again. Then the Apps will be updated. This I did find this out by T&E. So my disrupting  'You need to update the Apps' message in the App Store disappeared.

I had the same problem.  I TRULY solved it by deleting the Apps that got on my iPhone from the other user's account.  Then I connected my iPhone to my laptop, went into iTunes, went to the Store and signed out and then signed back in as myself.  Finally, I did a sync, and the problem is TRULY solved.  Hope this helps!

Okay katiefrom plainfield ..... could you be more precise and specific in terms of what you did?  Also a question ... you say you deleted the Apps you got from the other user's account ... did you have to repurchase apps (while some are free, some cost a bit more than .99 and I'm not interested in paying twice for those things) or when you connected the iPhone to the laptop were you able to get these apps without paying again???

If you have a solution, a very specific step-by-step process would make a lot of folks happy!

I have the same problem. Here's how to update the apps without deleting apps or logging into old accounts:

Log into itunes and click on Apps from your Library (from the menu on the left, not the App Store). At the bottom of that page, it will say updates available. Do the updates with your phone plugged in. After they are done downloading, sync your phone. Your apps should be all up to date now. I just did this and have no other updates right now, so I'm not sure if it fixed the email address issue. At least I didn't have to pay for new apps or delete anything.

It may not work for everyone but its worth a try if you just want to get your apps updated. My apologies if this has already been mentioned.

The theory that you have to log in with the password of the user who downloaded that app might be true, but how does that explain how the last time I updated Facebook it asked for the password for MY apple ID and this time I'm trying to update it and it asks for my ex-husband's apple ID? Nothing has changed in that time period, and I'm the one who downloaded that app. And why should we have to use the ID of the person who downloaded it? What if we are not in concact with that person? What if they don't want to give us their apple ID? The only solution that actually worked was deleting the app.

rmavery nailed it (above). Changing the settings in your iPhone itself will solve the problem.

I have the same exact problem... Try updating them ONE AT A TIME.

[I know, its a lot to do- 1 down, 50 to go! uugh.]

Also, try going into your apple id (manage), and see if your Girlfriend's email is in the "additional email" tab.

Somehow I had my fiances apple ID showing.  I then tried to update my apple ID to fix the problem.  Everything changed in itunes but my app store still showed his when updating and buying new apps it had MY old id (that it kept saying password was incorrect for) when attempting to reset it only reset for my NEW id.  After several hours of trying EVERYTHING mentioned in here...including deleting apps and content (Don't do that by the way).  I found the answer on another thread...Go under "Settings" go to "Store" and tap the current "Apple ID" select "Sign Out" then just log in with the new one ID or your "correct" one.  Sometimes Apple *****...

I had same issue and it was due to multiple ID's used to purchase the apps.  For instance the Apple ID's were "MyOldID" and "MyNewID".  I had one app that was purchased and I had used "MyOldID" when purchasing it and my others I had used MyNewID.  When I would UPDATE ALL it so happened that one of the ones that were to be updated were acquired/purchased using MyOldID and the rest were acquired/purchased with MyNewID.

My iPhone settings had my id set as MyNewID.  For me the app that was purchased using MyOldID I decided to delete (it was a free app) and I downloaded it again using MyNewID...now I'm in sync(using same ID for all apps).

I did nothing wrong and having to enter two ID's when performing updates is ok as long as you can remember the passwords......

    Hey all,

So if you are like me and the sing in, sign out option didn't work for you in settings, try this.

Like most ppl mentioned already the only way to update ur apps is to enter the password for whatever username pops up whether that be your old one or your new one. There is no way to merge your old and new usernames or applied I'd accounts.

If your like me, again and forgot your old password to your old apple id you MUST reset it by using the apple of website page. It didn't work for me when I tried to reset my password using my iPhone. You have to go to the website... After that you have to update the app using both usernames unless you want to repurchase them all over again whIch I was not willing to do. It's not that hard to remember too passwOrds just annoying. But this seemed to work for me!

Okay so I gave up trying to fix this.  I made old and new applied passwords the same. Now whatever ID comes up, I only have one password to remember and enter.
