Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_24 will break SSL VPN clients

After the update I could no longer access work VPN (it is based on a Cisco Java applet)!
and since this type of update can not be uninstalled the only solution was to reinstall Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, and skip the "Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_24"

Thanks for this... But I don't see any anything about applet plug-in on my Java preferences. (About Java Preferences shows Version 13.6.0) Looked under all 4 tabs: General, Security, Network, Advanced and drilled down wherever I could.)

Has anyone verified this?

The latest I have is that Network Connect may work if launched from within Safari (at least for my company's implementation, which *is* Juniper Networks, Inc. itself.). Problem appears to be an compatibility issue with Java 1.2.0_29.

On the topic of reverting back to a previous version of Java. Most postings say it can't be done. I found one posting which details a procedure, but it requires the MAC OS install disk and a bit of admistrator cajones to do it. I haven't tried it, but the discussion is here: http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=2009051215025819
