256G SSD from 13 in 11?

The Air uses a Toshiba mSATA "Blade" SSD. I cannot find a source for these online but Apple uses a Toshiba one.

I've always heard that the 256GB version of the Toshiba SSD in the air had the storage on both sides of the module which made it thicker than the 64GB and 128GB models and that it was thick enough that it was incompatible with the 11.6" MacBook Air. Interesting but, I assume, warranty voiding: Yes? I wonder how big and risky a job it is? They do say they supply the "tools".

I note they say "Ultra-efficient Block Management & Wear Leveling
Prevents write speed degradation commonly experienced by other brands' SSD." I wonder if Apple does any wear leveling; likely so, but Apple does not often divulge such things (trade secrets).

Great question. Does the SSD upgrade void the warranty?

Does memory or HD upgrades done by the owner/third party on other mac products void the overall warranty?

I suspect so since there are no user serviceable parts.

OTOH .. my MacBook's manual has instructions on how to add memory and how to replace the HDD. Doing so did not void my warranty.

The leveling is a feature of the SSD module, and is not dependent on Apple.
