I have a question that I have been trying to figure out: If you have pure Darwin (no MacOS X, which I have), how do you install the X Windows system? I tried installing fink, then running it with startx, but then I found out that when you run startx, it gives you a gui asking for rootless or fullscreen, so it can only work on Mac OS X. So how do I on a pure UNIX machine install/use X Windows without Mac OS X? Any help, as always very much Appriciated!

I read where it sayed that you can run it from a pure darwin machine without a start up screen, but thats not the truth at all. As a test, I went to the terminal and typed startx, and see if a dialog would come up asking for rootless or full mode, and it did. That's why I can't use X Windows on a pure-darwin machine. If I could, I would do a screenshot of me typing in startx, then its runs, then you see the dialog come up. Don't know (?) Thanks for your help!

I didn't think of that, I thought that just installing from fink would literally compile from source, but that's really XDarwin modified source. Now, after I download all 7 of the archives, do I expand them into one directory? Thanks a lot for your help! (I gave you a helpful!)
I again, I'm still wondering if I extract all the sources into one directory or just leave them. I am getting the sources from here:
http://xorg.freedesktop.org/releases/X11R6.7.0/src/ All 7 of them. I would be great if you could direct me from there!
Thanks again!
