MacBook Air freeze launching iTunes

Just managed this 3 times in 5 minutes. First time was coming out of sleep, immediately clicked iTunes, second and third times was launching iTunes after boot. All 3 times the store window appeared, the loading bar went across the top of the window and then it froze. No cursor, closing the lid did not shut down the screen and I had to hold the power button to reboot.

I've only had the machine a day, but I'm not very happy. I did just update to 10.6.7. Is anyone else experiencing this? Should I be concerned?

Thank you
James

So, following a few suggestions, here and other places, I did the reset twice thing and it didnt work, so I booted into safe mode (holding shift while booting up) and repaired disk permissions, then shut down and restarted at least 3 times, maybe 4, then itunes started working. I am not sure if the disk permissions solved it or the shut downs, but it is working.....hope this helps someone else out there!

This issue has continued to impact my MacBook Air all day. It seems that if I hard restart the computer (hold down the power key...honestly this is my only option anyway since the entire computer freezes up after launching iTunes) about 3 or 4 times, it resolves the issue and iTunes returns to functioning normally. However, if I shut down or sleep and try to go back to iTunes, I must go through this 3-4x reboot process if I want to use iTunes. No other programs seem to be affected if I don't open iTunes.

Since problem with my MBA just upgraded to 10.6.7
For me it was NOT solved by a safe boot / disk permissions / reboot manually twice sequence. All that seemed to happen is that instead of freezing instantly upon loading iTunes, I got to move my cursor about two inches before it froze. iTunes is completely unusable. Everything else works fine.

Unlike others, this problem did not start immediately after my 10.6.7 upgrade. I had used iTunes to sync two iPhones, and two update two iPads to OS4.3 without problems. Then I tried to download a TV episode by clicking on the email from Apple that a new episode had arrived from my Seasons Pass, and about 30 seconds into the download the first freeze occurred. After that, every time I open iTunes it immediately freezes

OK, this morning, another freeze upon opening itunes. The safe boot permissions repair is not a permanent fix. Had to power cycle the machine.

Also started getting weird wireless behavior. We have a big Cisco wireless access point, the kind that can handle a hundred users, and it would not connect. Had to turn airport off/on to get connectivity. That has never happened before.

Ditto. Very disappointed. Complete freeze about 5 seconds into launching itunes. no safe boot/permissions thing helps. Very disgruntled!

Boot from your USB restore drive and run Disk Utility from it. See if that makes it permanent. There are system files that may not be corrected when it is the active OS drive even though you are in Safe Mode.
