Apr 28, 2011 10:39 PM in response to pippy1992by jmarsh433,I had the same problem as you. What I did was I deauthorized all computers on my itunes account. After that I reauthorized my computer and BAM!!! no more annoying "accessing itunes store" pop ups every 2 seconds anymore. I hope this helps.
Launch iTunes, select Music Store, and click your Account name in the upper right corner of the iTunes window. When prompted to do so, enter the password for your Apple ID.
At the bottom of the first panel in the Apple Account Information window you’ll see the number of computer authorizations you’ve used.
When you reach five authorizations a new “Deauthorize All” button appears at the bottom of this pane.
If you’re sure that you want to deauthorize all your computers, click this button. iTunes will ask you if you’re really sure. Click Deauthorize All Computers and, as requested, your computers will be deauthorized.
after this just reauthorize your computer and the problem should be fixed...

Jun 24, 2011 3:29 PM in response to pippy1992by affenpinscher,This started happening to me after the latest upgrade. So frustrating. The solutions posted here didn't work for me. iTunes store is essentially useless to me until there is a fix.

Jun 24, 2011 3:33 PM in response to pippy1992by affenpinscher,This worked for me:
Go to the Store drop-down menu.
Click Authorize This Computer.
It turns out after the upgrade, I had to re-authorize. No idea why. But the good news is, I no longer have this problem.
