Itunes must "run as administrator"

All of the sudden my iTunes wouldn't start. iPhone and Shuffle wouldn't synch. Then I saw your idea and right-clicked a newly downloaded iTunes executable file, selecting "Run as Administrator." All is well now! Thank you!

I see this is an older post originally that was replied to recently on Nov 18. I also had this problem today and found that "Run as Administrator" fixed the problem to an extent. If I minimized iTunes to the taskbar player, it would not function and would require me to restart iTunes. My problem was not iTunes. It was Media Center. I changed the libraries included in it and it changed the permissions to my music folder. iTunes couldn't access it without the elevated admin permissions, so it had the issue. I went through the C: drive to my music folder and re-established permission and iTunes works perfectly again. Maybe this can help others as well, as I personally did not like the idea of having to run admin all the time like this.

I'm not a fan of running programs as Admin in general, in my case your solution solved the problem. Thanks for adding to the discussion!

Just chiming in to say that after a day of trying to figure out why iTunes could not recognize an audio CD (even after a complete reinstallation of Windows 7) that when I tried running as Administrator (and setting that as the default setting on launch) the problem went away. I can't for the life of me figure out why this system (Dell Optiplex 790, volume license install of Win7Pro 64-bit (stock), fully patched) needed me to run iTunes as Admininstrator, but there you have it.
