Viber only working with wifi, not with 3g

Hi,
Can anyone explain why viber works on my iphone nomatter if im in a wifi hotspot or in the middle of no where, yet my wife has to be in a wifi hotspot for it to work on her iphone? we both have 3gs iphones, both running os4.3.
Could it be as simple as a setting?

I'm not sure I fully understood the problem here...
You're saying that your wife has to be in a WiFi hotspot in order for Viber to work, but Viber has to have an internet connection in order to work (so what's your describing is fine).

Hi, im sorry if i was not clear, both my wife and i have iphone 3gs phones, with 3g internet access. I can use viber anywhere (i dont need wifi) yet my wife, who also has 3g internet access can only use viber when she is in a wifi hotspot (even though she can access the internet directly from the iphone using her 3g internet access).
So i was wondering, does viber need a specific 3g data pack, or is there a setting that we may not have set correctly?

I understand it now.
Generally, there should be no problem at all using Viber on both 3G or WiFi.

Please provide me with the following information so we try to identify the problem:
1. Are you both connected to the same cellular network? What country is it in?
2. Do you both have the same 3G plan? (For example, some cellular companies limit VoIP usage on their 3G networks unless the subscriber pays extra).
3. Is she able to use other internet applications using her 3G connection?

Hi, i have an ipnone 4 and im with Optus 3G. Viber is only working for me (send texts and make calls) ONLY when im on wi-fi. If im not connected to a wifi connection it will not send any texts or make a call. If i try send a text it turns into a red dot with an exclamation mark near my comment and then it comes up with a message saying "An internet connection is required to set up Viber. Check your connection and try again. The request timed out."
