Mar 22, 2011 11:16 AM in response to theconstantlearnerby David S.,I assume you have a blu ray burner and BD E blank disc.
If so, you have three choices.
1. Export self contained out of FCP 7, and elect the burn blu ray template in Compressor 3.5; or
2. Purchase Toast 9/10/11 with the blu ray burn plug in, and use it to author.
3. Purchase Encore CS3/4/5 from Adobe, and use it to author a blu ray disc.
Don't use Share in FCP.
DVD SP doesn't support blu ray authoring. -
Mar 22, 2011 11:17 AM in response to theconstantlearnerby Christina Rodriguez,First and foremost, you need a BLu Ray Burner and Blu Ray Discs....
But you CAN make a faux blu ray with your regular burner, BUT it can only be about 45 minutes (or something like that, perhaps less).
Here is a link...

Mar 22, 2011 11:37 AM in response to David S.by theconstantlearner,Okay.
1) Export w/ current settings right. That will make the movie file around 135GBs to the Desktop.
Import that to Compressor. I use the Blu Ray template, does that mean that I have to go into Inspector, make sure that is on BLU Ray as well? What "settings" do I drag onto the project? MPEG2 Program Stream? an H.264? (I've heard different)
2) So if I use compressor, I don't need toast?
Then I purchase Encore, and author a Blu Ray. What does "author" mean? Does that mean the ablility to create a Blu Ray w/ menu, as opposed to a disc that you stick in a machine that just starts playing?
Thanks man - -

Apple TV1. You need to read the manual on sharing to Blu-ray.
2. You don't need Toast or Encore. Authoring means creating a disc with a format structure and files that play on a disc player. Compressor will create basic menus. It is not limited to first play only. -
Mar 22, 2011 12:19 PM in response to Tom Wolskyby theconstantlearner,I will give it a shot.
When I do regular DVDs, Compressor creates the video file, and the audio file, then in DVDSP, you link them together and burn a DVD.
DVDSP doesn't work for Blu Ray, so does compressor make the BLURAY disc? -

Mar 22, 2011 12:50 PM in response to theconstantlearnerby David S.,I used the blu ray template:
File/New Batch from Template/Create blu ray.
yes, you need a blu ray burner to create a blu ray disc.
And you need a blu ray BD R as well. -

Apple TVYou can only make a limited duration AVCHD disc on a regular burner. You cannot make a Blu-ray disc without a Blu-ray burner regardless of the software you use. -

As I stated in my first response, *do not use share.*
Too many issues.
