iTunes App download, How do I put on iPhone4 ?!

My iPhone 4 has recently been telling me to "sign into iTunes on your computer in order to complete this app download" when I attempt to download an application on the handset. Because of this I've decided to download app's directly from iTunes on my PC because I've read it's a simple "drag and drop" method.

Unfortunately my iTunes doesn't allow me to do this 'simple' drag and drop method with the application. Am I missing something?

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks in Advance.

Things from the App Store and the iTunes store can be either downloaded on the device, or from within the iTunes program on your computer. You cannot download any other way that I know of - certainly not directly from the web page.

Install iTunes, shop the store from within the progam and it will download apps, ebooks or whatever. Then just connect your iPhone and sync it to install the downloaded content.

Thankyou for the reply.

I've downloaded applications both ways, previously I've been successful with downloading the content on the App Store via the iPhone itself.

However, since this current problem I've turned to downloading the content directly from iTunes on my computer, but I'm unable to drag the application from itunes into the relevant iPhone icon, therefore unable to put it on my iPhone.

I am synced to iTunes, all software updated. Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Click on the iPhone's icons in the iTunes sidebar and go to the Apps tab. You can select the apps to install on your iPhone there. For more information, you might find the iPhone 4 user guide helpful:

One note: often when an app won't download in an iOS device but directs you to iTunes to complete the download, it means that the app isn't compatible with the iPhone or version of iOS currently installed on it. Confirm that your iPhone meets the requirements of the app before purchasing anything.

Regards.
