Itunes Connection Timed out......New Laptop

Hi.
I was wondering if the iTunes store is having an issue today or if I'm having an issue with my new laptop. I just purchased an HP Pavilion dm4, windows 7, and I downloaded the newest version of iTunes. Ever since downloading it I've tried signing in & authorizing my computer & I keep getting the same error message. iTunes connection timed out, check internet connection.....

I ran the dianostics twice. The only thing I saw that stood out was that iTunes was not enabled in firewall & so I followed the steps to enabling it & it's still not working.

Is there any issue with the connection or is there something else I need to try?
I've done everything suggested by iTunes & it's still not working.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I also got that "connection timeout" problem today with my itunes account, on a computer I never had problem with before.
Same problem observed by sereral users today.

Actually, the problem is probably at iTunes store level, as everything seems ok now.

Just try again later.

I had this problem and after three attempts to explain it to the itunes store and with no results that resolved my problem I took it upon myself to figure out. It turned out that it was simple. I had not yet authorized my new computer to use itunes from the menu bar. Once I authorized it everything ran fine.

Sorry guys and gals! Get used to it. It goes with Apple. It seems there is always some problem/error or another when updating Itunes or my ipod touch, and finding answers on here is like finding pork in pork & beans.
