Computer stopped recognizing iPod touch 3rd Gen.

Last night, I synced all my music and it went fine. Today, my iPod isn't even recognized by iTunes or my computer. I have a backup of my iTunes library that is up to date, but will obviously only work with the current version of iTunes. I was able to sync my library to an old 30GB classic ipod with no issues.

It works on my mom's dell notebook however, and is recognized with no issues. I'm aware that I could probably just load my itunes library from the backup disk, authorize her computer and get my music. But that is not ideal and not the solution to my problem. I have no idea why it would work last night and not today. Nothing changed.

Update - Not recognized with an older version of iTunes either.
