IEC 61140 Protection Class III

I've been provided with a DC power adapter with a USB output that is 5.1V and 2.1A. But it states that it should only be used with IT equipment with Protection Class III. Can anyone confirm that the iPad is Protection Class III compliant? thanks.

I doubt that there's a statement since Class III is more a lack of something rather than a standard to be met. Class II and Class I, which state requirements for grounding, would more call for a compliance statement, I would think. But I'm not expert in the details by any means, so I could be totally wrong. I can't find any such statement from Apple, anyway.

I would say that as long as the USB power supply provides the appropriate voltages, then unless you're using this in a setting where it is mandatory that devices meet certain standards, you really don't need to worry about it. I'm guessing, but it seems probable to me that the specification is just to ensure that you don't attempt to use the power supply with a device that must be grounded, which the iPad does not.

Regards.
