unable to sign into apple id

i just bought apple tv, i have an iphone 4 and macbook pro. Ive had the same apple id and password for as long as i can remember. When i try to home share with apple tv it says, unable to sign in, the apple id or password in incorrect. I even went in and changed the password and its still doing this. It is very frustrating. What do i do?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Sign into iTunes with the Apple ID and then try again. This is if you haven't on the macbook pro. Also, have you turned on home sharing in iTunes? I'm just throwing out ideas mind you.

yes, sorry i forgot to mention that, I have signed into my apple id on my phone and my macbook so i know they are correct, and home sharing is on, and i have room to authorize the apple tv

Hi Chris,

I just went through the same thing and ended up having to download the IPSW file to do a full restore in order to get it working. I used a USB cable and iTunes to do the restore as the online restore didn't work. It was a pain having to reset all of my settings etc, but at least it works now.

Go to Settings, General, Itunes Store. Log into the store using your password. Then go back to Computers, Turn On Home Sharing. Instead of typing in your ID and password, it will ask you if you want to use the same ID and password you just entered for the store. Say OK. You will be in business then.
