Macintosh SE/30 Dead

My SE/30 is no longer working and trust me, the motherboard is un-salvageable. Anyone here know where I can find a replacement board or another working machine? I really miss this thing already 😟

Please help me out.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

JamesL13,

Computer recyclers throw those machines out so the best place for a free one is a recycler. Seattle has a great store that sets old Apples aside. If you can find a place like that you are in luck. Otherwise, prepare to pay someone who has spent time collecting older Macs and money on storage.

What is it that you miss about the Machine? What do you need it to do? What software does it need to run? Will any other model work for you? Will a Classic or Classic II work for you? In the pacific northwest we could find you one easily. Learn if there are similar recycling options in your area. Also, do not forget user groups.

Good luck.

Sentimentally, It was the first Mac I ever used, I always told everyone it was as old as I was (By the month) I had accumulated tons of software over the years and when it died, I tried using a Mac Classic or a Classic II and they just don't hold the power my SE/30 had (16 MHz processor, 128 megabytes of ram and a 2 gig hard drive) If I can just get my hands on a working motherboard, I could most likely bring mine back to life. I'm not dead, so theres no reason my Mac should be 🙂

Please let me know if you find anything.

Hi,

The SE/30 is a faster machine (has a 68030 processor) than the SE (68000).

It is possible to connect an SE to the Internet, but it is hardly practical. System 7, Mac TCP and MacPPP 2.0.1 should be installed to begin with. The amount of RAM as near the maximum 4 MB as possible. Eudora 1.3.1 or 1.5.5 could be used for email. Web browsing will only work with something like MacWeb or MacLynx.
