car charger freezing my ipod

whenever i plug my 3rd gen ipod into the car charger it freezes. I have to let the battery completely die out and then it works fine. Its not the charger because my sister used it with her 4th gen ipod and has had no problems. Has anybody had this problem and solved it or not solved it? i'm out of the warranty period so that's no longer an option but this is an issue i've had since the beginning.

I have the same problem with my 3rd gen too!!!! I went into a radioshack cuz I thought it was the charger, but they plugged a brand new charger in at the store and the same thing happend! If anyone has any ifo I would really appreciate hearing it!!

I'm having this problem with a Belkin car charger. I thought it was the charger until I stumbled across your post. Anyone else having this problem? When I had a Monster iPod FM transmitter/charger, I didn't have this problem. Strange..

Interesting. I am on my second car charger for a 3rd generation iPod. When the iPod is connected to the charger it plays one song and that is it and the buttons and scroll wheel don't work. Has anyone found any solutions?
