Q: Apple TV 2G "An error occurred loading this content. Try again Later"

"An error occurred loading this content. Try again Later"

I get this message when trying to stream/load some movies, not all. I could stream YOGI BEAR in HD for my kids no problem. I could stream Jacka*3 HD no prob. I can also watch trailers. But I try The Fighter and Hereafter, and get the message all the time. I am afraid to purchase anything else coz I dont know if it will work. I tried rebooting, restoring and software update, but nothing helps. Please help anyone???!!

Changing the video settings to Standard Definition worked for me! Had first tried logging out and back in and also unplugging the power for a few minutes without success.

Both of my ATVs started acting up today and I searched this discussion for a fix. What worked for me was to go into the network settings of each ATV and manually enter the DNS servers. You can use either Google's or in my case OpenDNS. Once I made those changes everything was fixed. I hope this helps some of you.

We started having this problem some months ago, thought it was because our ATV was old so we went and bought ATV2, same issues, but only sometimes, had cable company come check our Internet, it is fine, connection is fine, have now upgraded my internet. Can watch trailers, can watch some movies, other movies bought, and never able to watch, like throwing money in the trash. Have tried all the fixes here to include the resets the restarts, unplugging and plugging in the modem, the router, the apple tv, and switching to standard def.  This is becoming extremely frustrating.

Just wanted to add another user to the discussion with the problem.  I have 3 of the previous 720p units, two of the latest 1080p model.

I purchased all 21 of the Bond movies last weekend when they had the HD versions for $9.99.  On the 720p model, they all get the error unless I change to SD in the iTunes setup.  I've tried all suggestions from this thread, other threads here, and other threads on the Internet.  The only solution is that I change to SD. (Defeats the purpose of an HD purchase)

There are no problems with the 1080p units playing this content.  The Bond movies load in SD/720/1080 with no problem on the newer Apple TV unit.

I purchased other movies and tv seasons that same day, and none have the problem.  My summaries are below:

1.) The issue is only with certain content.  Why are ALL 21 Bond movies having the issue, but nothing else bought that day?  Is it Studios?  A different authentication, code or handshake depending on the studio?

2.) Other than a processor bump, why is the issue there on the 720p, not the 1080p.  Is the iOS code exactly the same on each unit.  And if so, does it come down to some type of chip/switch inside 720p units?

Wow - major flaw for Apple.  I bought the newest Apple ITV in Sept 2012 and have yet to be able to watch a tv show on it.  I have tried the fixes listed here.  I am now trying the "switch to SD mode" and it may be working however it says the show will be ready to watch in 4 hours.  Really!  A 45 minute Breaking Bad!  Sorry Netflix doesn't have the current season.  It was never a problem on the Blu Ray/ Netflix option.  I knew when I saw this post was viewed by 93,000 plus people I was in trouble!  Hopefully Apple will come thru with some help on this issue!

Having already done the Google '8.8.8.8' thing, I was still having this problem. Tried a solution I found here:

    http://casualtechs.blogspot.com/2011/08/apple-tv-error-occurred-loading-this.htm l

Holding down 'bottom' and 'menu' buttons at same time for 10 seconds clears your past cache. Worked for me!

    Good luck!

Google's (and OpenDNS') DNS worked for me!

My problem was I wasn't able to use my ATV3 to view Youtube from my iOS devices.

    Great tip!

This worked fine on my ATV3 until a couple of weeks ago before upgrading the iOS. I tried upgrade and still no luck. I can watch 1080 (slow) and std, but not my preferred 720...Apple please fix this was working fine before! Using 8.8.8.8 for DNS nor rebooting nor menu and down keys helped.

My apple tv will show me previews and take my money, but I get the same error when I try to download the three movies I rented today. Reboots, bottom +menu buttons, standard def (didn't I pay for HD) all tried, nothing. I can watch Netflix with no problem. I also had problems with my iphone 5 not charging and Apple wanted me to carry it to a dealer > 100 miles away. Closest resaler had no car chargers no adaptors - totally unprepared for new iphone. If Steve Jobs could see this......

    Settings -> General -> Network -> Wi-Fi -> [Select yours] -> Configure DNS -> Manual -> 8.8.8.8

Same problem. Tried everything. No luck. It doesn't seem to be limited to our Apple TV. My wife tried loading the TV shows and movie rental on her iPhone 5 and instead of getting an error message they download at just a few MB per hour. Everything else is fast, previews load instantly.

I don't have cable, I only watch Apple TV and Blurays on my TV. Downloading from iTunes has been down for three days.

Apple wants me to commit $35 for a support call. The least they could do is make some kind of statement acknowledging the problem and give us an estimate of when it's going to be fixed. #applesupportfail
