Q: Apple TV 2G "An error occurred loading this content. Try again Later"

"An error occurred loading this content. Try again Later"

I get this message when trying to stream/load some movies, not all. I could stream YOGI BEAR in HD for my kids no problem. I could stream Jacka*3 HD no prob. I can also watch trailers. But I try The Fighter and Hereafter, and get the message all the time. I am afraid to purchase anything else coz I dont know if it will work. I tried rebooting, restoring and software update, but nothing helps. Please help anyone???!!

This worked for me:  Go to your AppleTV Settings and select Restart.  I was able to stream Netflix movies afterwards.

It might be your internet connection. i had the same problem My wifi in my house is fine but needs this sort of internet login which you get on phones and laptop but since it cannot be used on the apple TV is just says connected and may connect with a good signal but it may not play any video at all. i tried connecting it to my iphone 4s' internet connection through hotspot it worked perfectly, so i just blamed it on the internet connection.

I tried this and it worked perfectly (holding down the Menu and Down Arrow for ten seconds, thus clearing the cache and rebooting ATV).  Thanks for the tip.

    Hi,

I recently bought an Apple TV3 (30-01-2014) and rented a movie through itunes to test the Apple TV3. I too received the error experienced by everyone...   I did a lot of reading on the issue and tried everything people suggested but still nothing work.

The only solution I haven't tried is the DNS "fix". Setting it to the google DNS or as suggested by FingerCuffs to my router's IP. Hopefully this will work.....I will provided an update as soon as I've attempted it. However I need some guidance in finding out what my router's IP is. I have a the new AirPort express. Any suggestion of what it will be or where I can find it?

Thing that irritates me is the fact that I've can rent movies through iTunes on my MacAir so I know my connection speed is good enough to handle the movies. The issue must be with the Apple TV3.

Just for the record, I've tried the following with no success:

    •          Restart the apple TV

    •          Restore the apple TV

    •          update the firmware

    •          the HDMI handshake

    •          setting everything to SD

    Regards,

    Hi Guys & Gals

Just an update on my post above. I tried the DNS fix proposed by FingerCuffs. I change the DNS on the Apple TV 3 to the IP of my AirPort Express. And the work!!!!! The error is gone and I could view the movie! Didn't try setting the DNS to the Google IP 008.008.008.008 so not so if it will work.

Seem like my problem is solved!

    Thanks FingerCuffs!!

After a few frustrating days with this problem, the DNS fix as stated by FingerCuffs worked for me: change the DNS from automatic to manual and set it to 008.008.008.008.

Like others, my Apple TV worked for a long time set to automatic but I guess something in the ecosystem has changed (ISP, Apple TV software update, etc).

Use the Google DNS to fix the problem.

I have 2 Apple TVs.  One is a jailbroken ATV2 and one is an ATV3.  I am not receiving this error on my JB ATV2 on netflix, hulu or youtube content at all.  I am receiving the error when trying to use airplay and send content from a website www.tvgrapevine.com which has mp4 clips that I am trying to stream using airplay.  But what is weird is that when I use my ATV3 I can stream those clips from that site with no problems.  I only get the error when trying to use my JB ATV2.  It is very frustrating.  I have tried chaning the DNS code to the .008 and going manual instead of automatic but that did not work.  And as I said, everything else is playing fine except clips from this website.  I also am able to stream from iTunes from my iPhone to the JB ATV2 with no problems as well.

Anyone help with this problem???  Please : )

I have been getting this error message for the past few days now. I have mostly been watching Netflix on my AppleTV, so it's only happened while watching shows on Netflix. Tonight was the worst, as it happened 5 or 6 times. I have had my AppleTV for less than three weeks, so I hope it is not a problem with the device itself. I unhooked and then reconnected the device and also moved it to a new location. I also went to Settings > General > Restart and Settings > General > Software Update, but none of these things has stopped the problem. So if I change the DNS setting from automatic to manual, then enter my IP address, the problem should go away? If not, I guess my only other options would be to run an ethernet cable through the house, which I don't really want to do, or take it back to the store and exchange it. Thanks.

I followed FingerCuff's instructions and everything was fine for a couple of nights, but I have started getting the error message again. Not sure what else to do but exchange the device for another one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

All i know is every time i face a problem with apple tv:

    1.  i simply hold down both the menu and down arrow button for 15 seconds or till apple tv led light starts blinking and then release.

    2. The device will then go through a hard reset and when it turns back on again and connects to the internet all problems are solved.

I tried resetting when I first started having this problem a couple of weeks ago, and it hasn't prevented the problem from reoccuring. When the error occurs, I can easily get back to my program and resume watching it, but that's not the issue. I shouldn't be randomly disconnected right in the middle of a show or movie. It's annoying and pulls me out of the experience. If the Apple TV is not going to work properly, it's not worth having.

UPDATE: I ended up exchanging my AppleTV and the new one works like a charm. Now, this new one seems to have older software, as it doesn't include certain features like Vevo. I received a message saying updates were available, but I chose not to update the device, fearing the update may cause me to have the same problem I had with my previous AppleTV. Has anyone had any problems with the new software update? Or do you think it's safe to update, and maybe the problem was simply with the other device?

I have tried several types of reboots, to no avail. Movies stream fine, music crashes after 15 mins of play.
