Q: Apple TV 2G "An error occurred loading this content. Try again Later"

"An error occurred loading this content. Try again Later"

I get this message when trying to stream/load some movies, not all. I could stream YOGI BEAR in HD for my kids no problem. I could stream Jacka*3 HD no prob. I can also watch trailers. But I try The Fighter and Hereafter, and get the message all the time. I am afraid to purchase anything else coz I dont know if it will work. I tried rebooting, restoring and software update, but nothing helps. Please help anyone???!!

This is not just an streaming issue over LAN, in fact with me, I'm able to play all my movies over my LAN without issues. so it seems/must be a DNS issue, as the same error happens to me constantly, or quite a few different shows.

The problem is,, its not only one peticular movie/TV show/podcast etc,,,, its randomly.. yet when i try the next day it seems to be fine until it happends again the next week.

Might be just the podcasts, but doing a restore does solve the issue, but its only a workaround, not a fix.

    Lets hope Apple fixes this.

THANK YOU!  This worked for me - I was having trouble viewing everything, including TV Shows - not just movies... I hope this problem does not persist.

This worked for me when I was getting the error with some Netflix content.  I read on another site that the rebooting clears the cache, for what that's worth.  You have to hold the menu and down buttons for several seconds, until the blue led on the front of the ATV starts blinking rapidly.  Then releasing the menu and down buttons will reboot the ATV.

Seems to have done it for me. Either that or turning of and on the TV did it.

I'm having some what similar problems and no matter what I do nothing works :-(

    1. All movies from the Movie folder plays perfectly. Both movies (all HD) bought through iTunes as well as ripped BD's

    2. Series won't play at all now for some strange reason BUT did play perfectly before the iOS update :-(

I have searched high and low but nothing really gives an answer to why I only get the "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later" when trying to watch my TV series as everything else works fine.

    Any ideas?

In general, I have noticed more and more errors/faults with Apples software updates compared to what we saw earlier. This is not a good sign and I'm afraid Apple is moving in the wrong direction here...

Had the same problem this morning. Bought the ATV2 a couple of weeks ago and it worked like a charm until now.

Interestingly, unplugging the replugging the ATV fixed the problem, but i fear it will happen again!.

I'm getting the "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later." message when I try to stream some of my home videos stored in iPhoto 11 to the Apple TV.  Rebooting, etc. doesn't work.  The video plays on my MBP, but not on ATV2.

I got the error message "An error occurred loading this content. Try again Later" today and found a possible cause and a solution which is different to above. Yesterday I moved a whole lot of movies to a new hard drive and updated their locations in Itunes and Itunes was happy playing them in their new location. However when I tried playing any them today through Apple TV I got the error message.  Any movies that were still on the old hard drive would still play fine through Apple TV, only the ones that had been moved gave the error message.

I tried rebooting, powering off and on, but no luck. I then spotted that some of the movies in Itunes had exclamation marks next to them, showing that Itunes did not know their location. I went through these movies manually updating their locations in Itunes and as soon as I did the last one, all the movies on the disc began playing again on Apple TV.

So this appears to show that having a number of movies with incorrect paths can stop a whole disk of movies from playing correctly.

Here's what I did to fix the problem - Goto:

    1. Settings

    2. Audio & Video

    3. Dolby Digital - "change it from Auto to On"

Leave all other settings like Audio Output to "Auto" and HDMI Output to "Auto"

This worked for me and it's been flawless since ...

    Good Luck!!

I did the reboot and it worked but I have a sneaky suspicion it will happen again.  I hope Apple is monitoring this situation.

I had the same problems with videos that I added to my itunes library recently (previously added videos played without problems). I followed ray sharpe's solution and now everything is fixed.
