Is anyone else having problems creating PDF's in Mac OS 10.6.7 that become unreadable for anyone in Windows? - This is a major problem for me and my work, I hope a fix comes for this soon 😟

Definitely, the newest upgrade is a catastrophe for graphical designers who use fonts.

Just like 10.6.6 was a catastrophe and 10.6.5 before that and 10.6 and 10.5, etc.

I cannot produce readable EPS files any more on my 10.6.7 machine.

That's funny. I can't produce EPS files at all on my 10.6.6 or 10.6.7 machines. Sounds like a problem with 3rd party software.

Another machine 10.6.6 is still ok

My 10.6.7 machine can still produce PDFs that work fine in Windows.

Same here- upgraded to 10.6.7 and now I can see the OS X created PDFs in Preview, but when opened in Adobe Acrobat, many of the characters are apparently missing. Seems like a PDF compilation issue- as I cannot print anything from PDF now to a PCL printer.
This is a massive headache right now- and Apple need to sort this out immediately!

I've run into a similar problem with a single font that I've been using for about the past 12 years. It is an Adobe Multiple Master font that has worked flawlessly until I updated to 10.6.7 Tuesday night. Yesterday it started dropping the "i" and "l" characters. The space would be there but the character wouldn't show. This morning all that showed was random garbage characters. I called Apple this morning and they were unaware of any font problems and suggested that I call Adobe to see if they were aware of any problems with their fonts. They couldn't help me because they needed a product name but this no longer a "named" product as far as they are concerned (yes, it probably could be considered an antique). So far it only seems to be a problem with this "Multiple Master" font. Any suggestions would certainly be a help as I have 12 years of documents and drawings using this font. I'd hate to have to rebuild documents each time I open one.

Thanks for your response. I do have hourly backups, and I have gone through the recovery process, but the final screen said it would delete the entire HD and restore it. There are a few large folders of media which I do not back up, as well as Parallels, which I am concerned may be damaged if I copy them directly over to TM. Your thoughts are welcome!

There is nothing for Apple to sort out. Anyone waiting for Apple to do something is only going to get really, really frustrated because Apple isn't going to do anything.

Adobe interacts with the operating system at very low levels. When you install a new OS, there is possibility that 3rd party software, such as Adobe, could be broken. Certainly Apple tests for this sort of thing, but there is no way for them to test every possible configuration of every possible font ever used.

Start by re-applying the 10.6.7 combo update just to make sure. Repair permissions. Reinstall your Adobe software. Remove any non-standard fonts. Everything should work fine at this point. Now add back in half your fonts and try again. Keep adding half the remaining fonts until it breaks. Eventually you will located the offending items. If the problem really is a low-level issue between Adobe and Apple, the reinstalls may have fixed it and all your fonts will work again.
