Can't download new podcasts

This has been flaky off and on but now I haven't been able to download new podcasts for weeks.

I keep getting an exclamation mark when I try to "get" new podcasts and it says that "You do not have enough access privileges for this operation".

I do have write access to the directories where Podcasts are stored. I do have network access. I've tried deleting the "SC Info" folder and rebooting until I'm blue in the face.

Anyone know of a fix for this BS or is iTunes just broken forever? So sick of this ********...

pc, Windows XP, blah

Podcasts are not downloaded from Apple, all iTunes does is list the Podcasts and tell your computer where to find them (assuming the Podcasters put the correct information into their feed!). When you ask for an episode to be downloaded, the programme comes from the host server that the Podcast producer has stored the Podcast on.

So if your problem affects all your Podcasts, that suggests that you have a local problem. Are you on a network, or have you checked that you still have the access privileges you thought you have?

But if the problem is with certain Podcasts only, the problem probably lies with the Podcaster and the solution to that is contact the Podcast's producer.

I had the same problem, but figured my root cause...

I had my iTunes set to use an external HDD (as that's where I keep my music etc.) but it was formatted to a PC file system (NTFS). Being a recent convert to Mac, my podcasts were trying to save to the external drive, which by using NTFS is read only.

Once I reset the location of the default iTunes target, all works just fine.
